Visual Arts

W.P. Wagner is home to an outstanding studio facility with state of the art equipment, which gives students the opportunity to create in diverse and mixed media types, and in both 2-D and 3-D. We offer full three-year programs in both general art and ceramics. Students who are looking for visual arts enrichment opportunities can earn credits and build additional skills in the focused areas of drawing or sculpture after the completion of Art 10.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Art 10, 20 and 30 is the path for students who are interested in exploring a wide variety of art approaches and topics. In the art studio at W.P. Wagner, students are welcomed into an inclusive environment regardless of previous experience levels! Art 10 focuses on skill-building in a wide variety of art media, and artists will learn to discuss and apply the fundamental concepts of art and design. At the intermediate and advanced levels, artists are increasingly responsible for engaging in self-directed processes and are encouraged to create personally meaningful artworks that build toward a final portfolio. There is no prerequisite for Art 10.

Advanced Placement Studio Art will provide opportunities for students in Grade 12 who want to create studio art portfolios for AP adjudication in the categories of drawing, 2-D design or 3-D design.
