W. P. Wagner's Career & Technology Studies programming teaches students practical skills and provides insight into a variety of career pathways. These courses give students an advantage in a wide variety of technical programs after high school. There really is something for everyone at W. P. Wagner.
Communication Technology 10-20-30
Students who take this graphic design course will study elements and principles of design as well as typography through print design, web design, animation, video production and game design. This project-based course offers plenty of student choice using many elements of Adobe Creative Cloud and the Unity Game Engine.
Computer Science 10-20-30
By studying coding and video game design, Computer Science students develop problem-solving skills that will help them succeed in all of their high school courses and in post-secondary. Computer Science 30 may be used as an entrance requirement to post-secondary.
Construction 10-20-30
In the Construction program, students will learn how to use wood materials to develop their own design ideas and take them through the fabrication process, resulting in their very own completed product. Students will have access to important safety training in both hand and industrial power tools regardless of their level of previous experience. Students who are unsure about what they want to do after high school may find out that a well-paid path creating with their head and their hands is just what they’re looking for.
Cosmetology (Interest) 10-20-30
Explore the exciting world of beauty and join our Cosmetology program at Wagner. Cosmetology students learn the latest styles and techniques in order to enhance their own beauty and that of others. Students have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of hairstyling, cutting, coloring, extensions, and other aspects of professional grooming.
Culinary Arts 10-20-30
Culinary Arts is a practical, hands-on food science. Students will develop a real-life understanding of workplace skills through immersive team-building and technical practice. Students will be able to demonstrate these skills through personal menu creation, food artistry, marketing, business and health management.
Design Studies 10-20-30
Design Studies is an excellent starting point for students interested in studying the creative process used in architecture, industrial design, engineering, interior design and landscape design. Students work with a variety of tools and techniques from hand-sketching to computer-aided design to learn about the fundamentals of 2-D and 3-D design and manufacturing.
Fashion Studies 10-20-30
Have a love for fashion? Want to learn how to design and sew your own clothing line? Fashion Studies gives students the opportunity to imagine, design and create one-of-a-kind clothing garments. You'll never have to pay someone to hem your pants or sew on a button again!
Esthetics 20-30
Start your journey in the ever-changing Spa & Beauty Industry and join our Esthetic 20 and 30 program at Wagner. Esthetics students learn the latest techniques offered in Spas today in order to meet the latest beauty trends. Students registered in the Esthetics program develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities regarding proper manicuring, pedicuring, nail art, facials, hair removal, make up, and body adornment application.
Food Studies 10-20-30
Can you taste it? If you want to learn about the power of food and its ability to assist in maintaining a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle, this is the course for you. Learn while you cook. This practical, skills-based environment provides students with knowledge and skills that will serve them well for a lifetime. They also get to eat their creations!
Natural Sciences 10-20-30
Go beyond the whiteboard! In this hands-on course students will use the greenhouse, orchard, workroom and classroom to explore many aspects of our natural world. Hydroponics, aquaponics, herb growing, microgreens, vegetable gardening and propagations are just some of the skills students will learn. Students are encouraged to explore personal and group projects throughout the course based on interest.
Photography 10-20-30
Anyone can take a photo, but students who take photography learn the art and science of taking truly captivating and powerful images. Unleash your creativity in and out of the classroom and hone your technique with supplied DSLR cameras and editing software like Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere.
Pre-Engineering 15-25-35
Pre-Engineering is designed to provide students with an understanding of engineering as a career path. This course focuses on developing critical thinking, teamwork and collaboration skills through hands-on activities and rigorous design-based projects.
Sports Medicine 15-25-35
Sports Medicine offers an excellent starting point for students interested in a range of medical and sport science fields, including athletic therapy, nursing, medicine, firefighting and emergency response. Through a combination of theory and hands-on training, students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to work alongside W.P. Wagner Athletics teams during games and practices.
Sports Performance 15-25-35
Sports Performance is designed for students looking for a more comprehensive understanding of athletic training. We work with students to develop the mental, physical and social skills necessary for athletic performance at a higher level. During this course, students have access to facilities, equipment and training techniques to enhance their knowledge of cardiovascular fitness, group training methods, resistance training, speed and agility, sport psychology, nutrition and wellness, and a variety of other topics related to sports performance.
