Visual Arts

‌Art 10/20/30
(5 credits each)
Prerequisite: No prerequisite for Art 10, 50% is required to move to each new level.

Studio art courses are available to all students. These courses are suitable for any student who wants to learn about art, explore different media, and expand personal creativity. Most of the work is completed during class time through teacher and student directed projects.

Enrichment and AP opportunities
Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation and portfolio submission

After completion of Art 30 or Pottery 35, students who demonstrate a high degree of commitment to art and maintain the attitude and discipline of a working artist, have the opportunity to develop their portfolio for post-secondary entrance. Additional opportunities may be available to submit a portfolio in Advanced Placement for evaluation in one of three areas: 2D:Drawing or Design, and 3D.

Pottery 15/25/35
(5 credits each)
Prerequisite: 50% is required to move to each new level.

Ceramics is for the student who wants to work only in clay. Students will gain knowledge and skills necessary to build functional and decorative pottery using hand building and wheel building techniques. Most of the work is completed during class time through teacher and student directed projects.
